Portrait Session – The Trixes – December 20, 2019

Here are some images from a portrait session this past week here at the Tower of Power with my friend Pixie Trix and her partner Damien. We had talked about doing some sort of vintage imagery after she’d seen a picture I had made of myself using this approach, holding my trusty RIckenbacher Lap Steel. Which I’m actually getting better at playing.
I used a Nikon D850 with a 24-70 lens, two Yongnuo Speedlights, remotely triggered, through a pair of white Photoflex umbrellas. I post-processed the images in Capture One Pro 20 and Photoshop, as well as the Nik Collection and a third party photoshop action. I think we all preferred the sepia toned images (using the 3rd party plugins as a starting point) to the black and white ones, which were done exclusively with Nik.
Pixie and Damien were terrific to work with, and their outfits are wonderful. Pixie’s corset was made by Min LaFleur/Atelier de la Fleur, and the rest of the outfits were made by Pixie herself.
