Here are images from a performance I photographed of Ballet Jörgen’s recent performance at the Richard Bradshaw Amphitheatre at the Four Seasons Centre. I’ve photographed the company’s performances pretty well every year since I started shooting the Free Concert Series, and they always have something interesting on the go. I’m no longer shooting these performances as a regular “stringer,” so I was lucky this time out, as I received a last minute call to photograph this performance.
I made all these images using my trusty FUJI XT-3 and XT-4, along with 16-55 and 50-140 mm lenses. These mirrorless cameras are particularly well suited to these performances, as they’re completely silent and capture colour particularly well. Having said that, they’re not as good as my Nikon gear in low light situations, which is sometimes a challenge in this venue because of that giant wall of glass backlighting. Fortunately Capture One is particularly great at working with shadows – a lifesaver on more than one occasion.
